The organization that promotes and lobbies for Speech & Language Therapists and the speech & language impaired.  It used to have the role of validating an individual therapist’s competence to practice but this is now the remit of the health professions council.

I CAN
This is the best known charity that represents children with speech & Language impairment.  They run two schools and have promoted setting up services at a local level for preschoolers & secondary aged children and they also have led the way with training both for families and professionals.  I worked for ICAN for nearly three years setting up and validating preschool services.  This took me to Salisbury, Newcastle on Tyne, Northallerton, Greenwich & Worcester.

The Listening Program
One of many therapies developed and promoted by Advanced Brain Technologies an American based organization.  The Listening Program aims to train the brain to listen more acutely and accurately as the theory is that in our modern world it is the low frequency sounds that dominate and the high frequency sounds that we do not tune into.
